• I bought my 2001 911 Turbo in February of 2007. Since that time I've changed exhausts four times. I went from a modified Stock Turbo exhaust that rattled, buzzed and droned, to a Fabspeed exhaust that was much lighter (More than 30#), but also buzzed the heat shields and droned between 2-3K. It was so much so that we just didn't drive the car much. I switched back to another modified stock system, which also did the same as the previous two systems. I was thinking about buying a new system, and looking at all the popular systems from AWE, PSI, Fabspeed and Europipe. What was simply killing me was the price range of $2800-5200. Talk about the Porsche tax!!! Then Speedtech came along with their new system. John posted on Rennlist.com and 6speedonline.com about how his system didn't drone. I wasn't buying, because I'd been burned by others. Well, after much back and forth with Q&A, I finally bought the system and put it on the car... No drone. NONE. The car has a musclecar/exotic sound, and the system is of the highest quality with a mirror finish. The system also removed a lot of weight of the car, at least as much as the Fabspeed, if not more. The price of the system was the real kicker... I'd been eyeing a set of Victor Equipment wheels that I was thinking about buying, but the exhaust was first on the list. Well, the Speed Technologies system saved me enough money over the other systems to buy the wheels and the exhaust for the same price range of the other systems... So I feel like I got the wheels for free!! This system is on a K16/K24 hybrid Car that's making over 500Wheel HP, and not long after installing the system I attended a road course event and a drag strip private rental day at MIR in Maryland. At the drag strip I was able to run deep into the 11s at over 124mph, spinning the length of the track after pulling the front wheels off the ground at the launch. The system helps the car make more power and run better in my opinion. Thanks John for such a great and cost effective exhaust system!!!

996TT - John, I just wanted to drop you a few lines to share my impressions of your exhaust. As you may remember, I have a 2001 996 Twin Turbo. My car has been UMW flashed, K&N filter, Forge Diverters and now your SpeedTech exhaust system. I have to say that prior to owning my 996TT, I have owned 2 Dodge Vipers and after changing their exhaust systems several times, I never really got the desired sound... therefore, I was VERY hesitant to change my 996TT exhaust due to the high cost and fear of a getting a loud & raspy system. Thank you for the time spent settling my nerves. I have to say that for me, I think that your system is perfect for my 996TT, especially at WOT. The stock exhaust was too quiet, however, now, my car sounds like a Porsche 996TT should sound... not too loud at WOT and not too quiet around town...Thanks again,

997.1TT - I sing Speedtech's praises to anyone that will listen, at local meets and online. I have their 3" catted x-pipe and it is the bomb dot com. No matter how much money you spend on the other 'well known' exhaust brands, you will not beat the Speedtech x-pipe sound or build quality. You're just wasting money for the sake of it at that point. The value of Speedtech's products are unbelievable compared to the other brands at 2x the price.

997TT 3.0 catless "RACE" X-Pipe - John, your exhaust is a BEAST! Loud as hell and so awesome I can't stop grinning!! I know I feel a bit better throttle response and maybe it's in my head, but the car feels stronger with your pipes. The sound is so amazing, got the growl at low/mid rpm but holy shit at three quarter or flat this things SCREAMS! Man I am so glad I made the switch. The install, a BREEZE. Fitting the xpipe up was a cinch, pipes aligned absolutely perfect and straps and bracket were perfect for ease of alignment and tightening down. I left the tips loose until bumper went on and micro adjusted until just right. Anyway, man, thanks John for an amazing exhaust and finally, LOUD and sounds like a 911 TT should always have sounded. 997.2TT 3.0 X-Pipe w/ 3" Dual Tips - The SpeedTech exhaust system you see above is on my 2011 ITT (Rennlist post), it looks better in person and on the car - the dual wall tips are unique and beautiful. The sound level is what I feel is perfect. I have owned many other exhaust systems from Akro, Borla, Magnaflow, IPE and the SpeedTech system is the best sounding - with 1st class materials and workmanship. John is wonderful to work with. I never went more than 2 to 3 hours without a return message on any question or idea I had. The sound of the OEM exhaust system has always been a disappointment. I did extensive research before I decided upon SpeedTech. My car now sounds like a high end sports car should. This may sound strange, but the driving experience has completely changed with the new sound. I can still listen to the radio and have a conversation. The background exhaust sound is there, but not overbearing unless you get aggressive - then it screams! I do notice I increase my speed, just to hear the sound, so care is needed and an eye on the speedo. Remember when you were a kid and put playing cards with clothes pins on your bike to get a macho sound. Well, my car sound now gives me that special feeling I remember as a kid. It just makes our special Porsche more fun to drive!

997.1TT 3.0 X-Pipe w/ OEM tips - John.. yours is my 3rd exhaust on the 997TT.. it is perfect. Not trying to fluff you here.. it truly is incredible. Zero drone.. sounds amazing at just regular driving. Full throttle is just perfect. I've had so many exhausts over the years on different cars.. including Milltek, AWE, Fabspeed, SOUL, Tubi, Europipe.. this is by far the most livable/aggressive note I've had on a car. Well done!

997.1TT 3.0 catless "RACE" style X-Pipe - Quick update on my Speetech exhaust! I just got my car back on Friday and I would talk about my other upgrades in another thread, BUT WOW THIS EXHASUT IS EVERYTHING I IMAGINED AND MORE!!

I knew I wanted another Speedtech 3" the moment I bought the 997, because of my 996T experience, but I wanted more shriek so I knew I had to go with the mufflerless version. When talking to John he told me that his 3" catless x race version can compete with any Italian exotic out there for sound! At first I thought, "well I know his exhaust transforms the 911 experience based on my previous experience, but compete with Italian exotics!", I knew he was just a little excited. WELL HIS STATEMENT IS TRUE and if I had to do just two mods to my 911 it would be this exact exhaust and flash and call it a day!!

I almost do not even want to record it unless it is getting the full spectrum of sound, because I do not want to rob anything from this piece of art! ....YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS EXHAUST IN PERSON PERIOD, RECORDING WILL NOT TO JUSTICE!

I went to pay my invoice from the Porsche shop (Autowerks) that did the labour so I can pick my car up later that night (as they would be closed). Well sure enough when I fired it up with a little throttle my newly installed ERP LWFW just flew the RPMS up to 4Krpm in a blink of an eye and the sound ....after I settled myself from the glorious sound, I almost wept with joy !! BULLSEYE, BULLSEYE, BULLSEYE it sounded so exotic, the tone, the rasp, THE SHARPNESS AND over all that exotic sound there is always a pronounced turbo whistle!!!....I immediately went against my judgement and HAD TO take the car for a spin...NOT TO FEEL THE POWER, BUT JUST TO HEAR THIS EXUAHST SYSTEM ROLLING!! I really can not explain how this has changed my car! From before I would just take the car out to feel power to now, I find my self just driving to listen and experience the quick revving (LWFW & EVOMS under drive crack pulley) and just listen to this sweet sound!

The shop owner that has heard many, many exhaust systems over the past 20years (in the Porsche world) and quite often costing 2-3 times more said he can not remember a better sounding exhaust, he also had to drive the car from his race shop to his retail shop and said it was so surprised of the lack of resonance & how drivable it was for such a free flowing exhaust system. The shop Service manager said HE HAS NEVER HEARD A 911 SOUND so good before period! He also commented that the quality is up there with those costing 2-3 times more.

I can truly attest to the above statements, it is a exotic sounding system that is loud(you can drive it quiet if need be) and cruise on the highway with out drone! It has all the right sounds that fit a car that cost ($200 000CDN new) and when you wind it up through to 7K it shrieks and barks with a razer sharp sound that send shivers down your spine and A BIG DAMN SMILE ACCROSS YOUR FACE (seriously I had a smile so big driving this car, almost giddy about the sound I was getting out of this flat six, people might of though I was crazy!!)!!

I have had the car for a couple of months and people have took a quick look at the car before (I DO NOT SOLICITE ATTENTION!!), but since I got the car back with this exhaust I have had many unsolicited thumbs up as I have been revving it up in parking lots to get over speed bumps etc. I was at my friends wedding and the groom wanted to get a drive in my car, so he brought his newly wedded wife in the car. When I fired it up with a little throttle, the way the sharp racing note assaulted the air waves, I quickly had many people looking and giving praise of the sound. My friends wife is not into cars like her husband and as soon as we started driving, her first comment is how nice the car sounded!

I personally can not see anyone not getting this exhaust over anything else (my opinion) after hearing it and it mannerisms!! It sound damn exotic, with ALL THE RIGHT SYMPHANY OF SOUNDS & NUANCES, in the back ground you and everyone else is always reminded that it is a TURBO with the pronounced turbo whistle and it is unbelievably street able. If you want it quieter with out loosing too much of the for-mentioned I can see you doing stock sized tips (I did the FULL 3" DUAL TIPS THAT DO NOT NECK DOWN) OR even his 2.5 version of this. For me the 3" is just DARN PERFECT!! I left my uncles home around 12 at night and I just drove off with sport button off and kept RPMs low without a problem, BUT when I drive my car for 90% of the way I want it is amazing & must be experienced in a 911!

996TT 2.5 X-Pipe - John, I just wanted to send you a quick note that the car is now back on the road from the accident. The bumper and cosmetic repair went perfectly! As for the exhaust....I am absolutely in love with it! Your recommendation was spot on. Incredible sound when really stretching its legs, without being punishing at low load/speed. No drone I am able to find, even with the windows up. I only was able to drive it this evening about 30min, but I am very happy with the purchase. You have an incredible knowledge of the product, and its fit for your customers. Your excellent communication through this process was second to none. I will admit was a little apprehensive of the round tips in the oval cutout, but it looks so at home with OEM quality and actually improved the appearance. My father saw the car today and commented on how good the tips look, and he is very difficult to please with vehicles.

My shop was skeptical when they pulled the exhaust out of the box and there was no muffler. They gave me a look like "oh you poor soul, this is going to be too loud", however they were impressed with the sound, and even more with the fit and finish of the system which went on perfectly from what they said. Thank you so much for creating this great exhaust. I am now in love with the car again after the bitterness of the accident!

997.2TT 3.0 Race X-Pipe - John, hope all is well. I just wanted to take a few minutes to describe my overall experience after purchasing your catless race 3” exhaust system. After a couple of weeks the exhaust arrived in a very well packed and secure box. After digging through the peanut puffs I immediately became impressed with the overall craftsmanship of the exhaust. The welds were real clean and the construction was simply flawless. It is really a work of art and honestly if I could, I would hang it on a wall rather then bury it under my 997.2 TT.
Shortly thereafter I brought my car to a local Porsche performance shop for the install. Several hours later the owner of the shop called me to let me know the car was ready. He said it fit perfectly with no issues. Of course I asked him how does it now sound. After a long pause I started getting worried. Finally he said AWESOME. I guess he was just trying the right words or something. He also let me know that the boys in the shop were equally impressed with the construction of the exhaust and sound. And these guys all race Porsches by the way.
When I arrived to pick up the car and finally turn the key the sound was immediately gratifying. And it only got better. When I first drove the car, I could not believe this was in fact the same car. I swear, as I was driving I thought I heard some exotic hyper car pulling up on me only to realize that it was really just my car making that beautiful intoxicating music! And it’s never too obnoxious. For me, it’s exactly what I was looking for.
Again thank you for creating such an incredible product that costs less than 1/2 the price of the competition.

996TT 3.0 "LOUD" - speedtech crossflow! worth it!

I just wanna tell the board that i just installed a crossflow x cellerator loud version today and it was awesome. the sound is exotic like and i felt the difference in terms of torque or maybe its just me. But the car is more responsive and definitely gets notice with the exotic sound. Even my mechanic was impressed with it. He said it sounds SICK. I definitely recommend this exhaust for the price, sound, performance, and very good customer service. Keep it up John.

997.1 turbo with Speedtech 2.5 X-pipe

First of all, a big thank you to John for his excellent support and quick feedback, but more importantly for his patience. I am a very picky person and I have drowned him with emails. Thank you John!

I have gone through an extensive research on various 997.1 TT exhaust providers and none have really convinced me, until I came across Speedtech. It is clear that the extensive R&D has resulted in a very customized solution providing 911 fans with a few options to cater to their specific tastes.

Personally, I have always found the 997 TT exhaust note very disappointing. The twin turbos take away the mythical 911 sound which you find on the Naturally Aspirated 997.1, like the 911 GT3 or the standard 911 with Porsche Sport exhaust (which I had on my Targa 4S and was magical).


No exhaust system on a 997.1 TT can bring back the Naturally Aspirated sound, but the Speedtech 2.5 X-pipe system, is the closest it can get.

I cannot really describe how it sounds but you can imagine an orchestra with percussions, string instruments and wind instruments, all playing together in harmony the legendary 911 sound and then when the Turbos spool, it is as if one of the wind instruments, let us say the trombone, takes the lead for a few seconds and then all the instruments follow ... and it just keeps repeating after each gear shift (that's if you have enough road left ahead!)

996TT 2.5 "quiet" - 997TT X-cellerator X-flow experience

John has designed a great exhaust system in the x-flow accelerator. I have had the 2.5 quiet on my car for 1-2k miles now and I think it offers just the right balance of aggressive sound without drone. It provides a unique, exotic type of sound for the 997TT and is not overly quiet despite the label. At WOT, it is much louder. I have paired it with a BMC filter and Evo recric valves, and the sound is just where I like it for street. For track use, I'm planning to run it with the muffler bypass set up for a little more volume

• Speedtech is the way to go I just installed the 2.5 cross-flow, great product very nice quality and great sound.

996TT 2.5 "quiet" - John, First,thank you so much for taking my word for it that i didn’t receive the decat pipes and sending them over straight away. Secondly...you should market the exhaust without cats – i wish i had a HD recorder to provide a sound clip as the 2.5” exhaust benefits hugely from the removal of even the 100 cell cats. I can’t believe how much crisper the note is...there’s a distinct edge now, with the traditional Porsche howl up top, very muted with the cats in place before.

The best part of all this is that THERE IS NO DRONE

996TT 3.0 "LOUD" - The first and last exhaust any 996/997 owner should purchase. The fact that I can remove my muffler and install the straight pipe section is yet another reason why these exhaust components are superior. I said it before and I'll say it again.... I love my SpeedTech exhaust!

996TT 3.0 "LOUD" - Hi John, The package arrived yesterday. I was looking at a crazy work week and couldn't wait. I had my indy shop in Reno install it today. The mechanic who has 30 years experience in building P-car race cars was very complimentary. He said the quality and ease of installation was easily on par with much more expensive systems. He also commented on how different (in a great way) the sound was. I completely agree.

I just got back from a good run and all I can say is I love the sound. I am so glad I went with the loud version. At idle it is downright quiet. At WOT it is a glorious sound. I was really impressed with the improved throttle response the most though. The car just feels entirely different. I was pleasantly surprised at the improvement a simple mod like this makes.

996TT 2.5 "quiet" - I've run five different exhausts on my car in the 4.5 years I've had it... I FINALLY found what I feel is the perfect $3000 exhaust system... Contact John at Speedtech and talk to him about his Xcellerator QUIET. I was in your shoes long ago, with the Fabspeed... And three other systems... Don't expect I'll be swapping out exhausts anymore... The wife is even happy with it... And when I "commute" in it, it's a 150 RT to my customer's location. This car now is actually fun as a daily driver without the headaches and with the ability to talk on the cellphone or listen to the stereo on LOW volume. Had this system for well over a year now, with 5K miles on it... This one is the "right" one... for me, anyway!

996TT 2.5 "quiet" - My 2.5 quiet x-cellerator from speedtech experience

I haved owned several exhausts for my turbo, five now in total and thankfully my last. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 2.5 quiet x-cellerator exhaust I got from John at speedtech. Personally I had the crazy loud droney exhausts, the boring stock (but drone free) exhaust note as well as some models in between. But nothing sounds as sweet as this cross flow. Its hard to explain its just right, not too loud as to annoy my neighbors but a monster when "I" want it to be.

997TT 3.0 "RACE" (catless) - John, Just installed the exhaust and it sounds wonderful! The turbo whistle is seriously loud, especially after tune! When it gets higher up in RPM (3500-4500), it sort of reminds me of my old NSX with Gruppe M exhaust. Really wakes the car up! You can hear the turbo whistle from miles away. Really glad I got this exhaust - I tell you it's pretty hard to go blind into something just based off of trust! You've been great the whole time and I'm glad I went with you guys.

996TT 3.0 "LOUD) - I was unsure if I should go with the 3.0 loud or 2.5 quiet exhaust and spoke to John via eml/phone several times. In the end we chose the 3.0. The exhaust really fits the new mean, purpose built look the car gives off. You can drive the car in certain RPM zones and sneak around- but make no mistake this exhaust can rip and it sounds bada$$! Hands down best system by far! Car is much more responsive/quick and am really looking forward to a trip back down to Laguna next weekend. Sorry for the ramble- but I'm so pleased with the car right now!

996TT 2.5 "quiet" - Ok so its been on the car for 3 months now and I was brave enough to replace the Europipe with a 2.5 Speedtech Quiet running a Designtek foam air filter and 620Hp engine. Today it was a rare occurence taking my 3 Children 13,12 & 7 to Theatre school. First of all, none of them complained about the noise (has happened many times before) and whilst having difficulty in town looking for a parking space, on light throttle, coming out of a junction this exhaust just purs like a 993 its very sweet. Now usually I wont hold
back to critisize, but also when praise is due it needs to said, Well done John !

997.1 - I bought high-flow cats, x-pipe, mufflers and tips from Automotive Speed Technologies in NH, I knew some guys that had 'em on turbos and I looked EVERYWHERE before buying this set.....all I can say is WOW! It was the exact sound, look, and feel I wanted Price is awesome, and quality is fantatstic, and I'm not even being paid to give them such props, lol! 996TT 2.5 "quiet" - Having purchased and installed my 2.5" quiet system from John in May 2010, I could not be more satisfied with both the product and the service from John and company. On the sales side, John was patient in answering my apprehensive questions (having unfavorable 993 drone experiences with other aftermarket products). During my install, when a question arose, John returned my call on the weekend (how many vendors do that??).

The product receives unsolicited comments on its sound quality from even non-Porsche owners (the most recent just a few weeks back). The spooling whoosh is cool to hear, the WOT invigorating, and the butt-dyno gives two thumbs up as well (but not up the butt ).If you are on the fence about this product, pull the trigger and move forward; you will be sorry you waited so long...Thanks John !!

996TT 2.5 quiet - I finally picked up the car yesterday and have yet to see the dyno results, BUT, they told me that there was minor slipping of the clutch at max boost pressure. They reduced it slightly to prevent future slippage. The car is still at approx 500+ AWHP and 600 ft/lbs at the wheels. I can now officially scare anyone in my car including me. I am VERY pleased with the exhaust and tips and the engine work. I need time to have all of it sink in.

• Bought a new car and went to pick it up today with a friend . I took the turbo to go there. I drove my new car back home and my friend drove my Porker....I was following him and did ask him to open the tap on some double carriage way. OMG what a sound !!! Incredible really. I couldn't believe how good it was. . Even when he was pulling away through the gears I could still hear the car even really far away !! When cruising behind him I could hear the exhaust but it wasn't over the top at all. When we arrived at home I had to fight with my friend to get the keys back of him !!!!!! :-)
